Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum Pop-up Stargazing for Sally's Night

*The event has already taken place on this date: Sat, 06/20/2026
Take a look through our telescopes while you’re out exploring Washington, DC, weather permitting. Join us outside the Museum at the corner of Independence Ave and 7th Street SW, near the silver Delta Solar sculpture, and see the wonders of the night sky. Experienced people will help you to use different telescopes to observe a variety of things, including planets, stars, and the Moon. There will also be sky maps available to help identify constellations and planets.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Telescopes will be provided by Smithsonian and pre-approved members of local astronomy clubs. No other personal telescopes are permitted at the event.

This stargazing is part of Sally's Night, the Museum's event for Smithsonian's Solstice Celebration. No tickets or reservations are required to participate in the outdoor stargazing program. However, free timed-entry passes are necessary to enter the Museum and attend the indoor Sally's Night activities.
