B&O Unlocked: B&O No. X-4055 Camp Car - B&O Railroad Museum
B&O rolling stock was often renumbered and refurbished to meet the needs of the time. This month, you’ll step inside a prime example of this practice with the B&O No. X-4055 Camp Car! The B&O No. X-4055, also known as the B&O No. 4723 and nicknamed “Thendara,” was originally constructed as a sleeper car and later refashioned to serve as a Maintenance-of-Way (MOW) camp car in the 1960s. As a camp car, the No. X-4055 would have been put to work by the MOW department as mobile offices, workshops, and living quarters.
